Festival of Myzithropita

Also in Kritsa, a festival dedicated to one of the most popular traditional sweets of Crete, the famous myzithropita (myzithra cheese pie). Visitors, in addition to several exquisite dishes, have the opportunity to try this unique dish which is prepared right before their eyes by dozens of women of the village. The event takes place every summer (usually at the beginning of August, there is no fixed date as it is not linked to a religious celebration) in the courtyard of the school. The event features live performances by top Cretan musicians.
